‘800’, the Telugu-Tamil-Hindi movie, will be an October 6th release. Senior Tollywood producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad today revealed that it will grace 1100 screens in India alone. The film’s release strategy will be recalibrated after a massive multiplex release.
Director MS Sripathy has cast Madhur Mittal in the role of the celebrated Sri Lankan bowler Muthiah Muralidaran. In today’s interview, Krishna Prasad is confident that the Sripathy-Mittal duo is going to satisfy all sections of audiences. “This film is not just for cricket lovers. It will inspire everyone who dreams and wants to rise against all odds,” the producer says.
Krishna Prasad has had the golden opportunity to interact with legends like Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Ganguly and Jayasurya during the promotions. “They are such down-to-earth people,” he says. He adds, “So much action happened to Muralidaran’s life. Those incidents have been written in the script after research. Even though Muralidaran was born in Sri Lanka, he was seen as a Tamilian. Owing to this, he had to face some issues. The chucking controversy has been portrayed to tell the audience what Muralidaran went through personally,” Krishna Prasad says.
The reference to the Sri Lankan civil war and the anecdote involving Muralidaran talking with LTTE militants have been portrayed sensitively in the film. “These are delicate issues,” he adds.
The film is up for a good Telugu release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. From Suniel Narang and Dil Raju, from Annapurna Studios and Geetha Film Distributors to UFO, a lot of key players have stepped up.
