For the prevention and control of the COVID-19 Spread, the social distancing is said to be the most primary and reliable step at the moment. As no vaccine or drugs have been invented by the scientists to fight with the pandemic, the people need to be cautious all the time with masks on and maintaining distance with the fellow human being.
Till now, the mandatory distance between one person to the other as part of social or physical distancing is 6 feet but the latest research has shown as a minimum 18 feet distance is needed to be maintained by the human beings between each other to be safe from the COVID-19 attack.
The scientist performed many types of research related to this study and confirmed that the droplets that fly on air due to the coughing and sneezing of a COVID-19 patient would evaporate only after they reach 18 feet and anyone within that range would get infected for sure. They used a computer simulator to make sure the correct range and found that the virus will spread to 18 meters within 5 seconds.
The details related to this research were also mentioned in a journal named a ‘physics of the fluids’. This range is in the environment where the wind moves with 4kms/hr speed and the distance may vary/increase with the increase in the wind speed.
