For the unversed, 30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela has Pradeep Machiraju and Amritha Aiyer in the lead roles. ‘Neeli Neeli Aakasam’ song from this film’s audio album turned out to be a sensational chartbuster and built good buzz to the film. Billed to be a romantic entertainer, this flick hit the silver screens today and here is our review of it.
Story: Back in 1947, Abbayi gaaru(Pradeep) and Ammayi gaaru(Amritha) are neck deep in love. Just as they plan to get married, the former is killed in a physical brawl and subsequently, Amritha commits suicide. The pair is later reincarnated as Arjun and Akshara. However, Arjun and Akshara get off on the wrong note and quarrel for literally everything. Fate plays its part and both Arjun and Akshara visit the place where they ended their lives in the previous birth. This is when Arjun’s soul enter Amritha and vice versa. The rest of the story deals with their journeys henceforth.
What about on-screen performances?
Pradeep Machiraju is energetic as usual and delivers a fine performance. He is in his element when it comes to comical scenes. But his acting and screen presence are a bit too similar to the way he presents himself in small screen shows. Amritha Aiyer looks cute and she fits the role well. Her skin show in the second half will attract the youth. She does an impressive job in traditional look as well. Posani Krishnamurali excelled in emotional scenes.
What about off-screen talents?
Anup Rubens is the main hero of the film. His background score sets the tempo for most parts. Neeli Neeli Aakasam song is one of the main reasons why the film garnered so much attention and Anup Rubens deserves the credit for the same. Sivendra’s cinematography is very good and so is the artwork. Majority of the dialogues in the college scenes are similar to Jabardasth punch dialogues. Many scenes in the film conceived without any imagination. They look like a medley of scenes from super hit films.
The director Munna picks the concept of reincarnation for his debut film. Sadly for him, the film lacks novelty. The flashback episode which forms the soul of the film was cut short for some strange reason. This love story was simply portrayed through a song and that just isn’t enough when the rest of the story is almost entirely based on this particular episode. Poor establishment of the core plot takes a toll on the narrative. College scenes are filled with spoof comedy. A story like this needs compelling screenplay and 30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela fails miserably in this aspect. Loading the film with Jabardasth comedy is not the right approach and the director Munna will have to learn it the hard way.

Verdict:
30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela unit said this romantic drama will be as good as Neeli Neeli Aakasam song, but sadly, this song is the only good thing about the film. First half is comparatively decent but things go haywire in the latter half. The film keeps going on and on without any real conviction. Most of the scenes are boring and lack novelty. Pradeep should have opted for a better storyline for his debut film as male lead.
Watch or Not: Guess you know the answer already. DON’T.

First Half Report: Movie starts with feel-good flashback episode and in the college story some spoof comedy scenes are good. But, there are some boring moments in the middle. Interval twist is decent. Let’s see what’s in the store for the second half.
