In a tragic incident, at least 30 people died and several sustained injuries in a train accident that took place in Pakistan on Monday morning. This incident happened after the Sir Syed Express train collided with Millat Express between Reti and Daharki railway stations in Ghotki district of Pakistan’s Sindh province.
As per the railways’ officials, the accident happened when Sargodha connected Sir Syed Express crashed into Milat Express that was already present at the track after the derailment.
Authorities fear that the number of fatalities in the accident could rise. As per officials, there were about a thousand passengers on the two trains combined at the time of the accident.
Ghotki Deputy Commissioner Usman Abdullah said that around 13 to 14 bogies have derailed in the accident while six to eight were completely destroyed. He said it was taking time to rescue those trapped between the bogies. The death toll is expected to rise further. The cause of the incident is being investigated. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
