Union Medical and Health minister Harshavardhan has expressed concern over the rising corona positivity rate in the state of Andhra Pradesh since early April. The highest growth rate of 30% per week was recorded in Chittoor, East Godavari, Guntur, Srikakulam, and Visakhapatnam districts. Along with AP, he reviewed the situation in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujrat states through a video conference.
In the video conference, he suggested increasing the facilities in the hospitals as patients from nearby villages are more likely to come to the towns. He directed the authorities to focus on the new mutants. So far, 18 crore doses of vaccine have been given to the public and it has been announced that another 33.6 crore doses of vaccine will be given to people by the end of July.
