Due to the alarming rise of Covid-19 amid second wave, PM modi led government took a decision to introduce more vaccines to the people with a strategic campaign named ‘Tika Utsav’ across the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Tika Utsav on April 11, iterating that it is the second big war on COVID-19. For this he urged the citizens to assist any one who need vaccine, to maintain social distancing, wear mask and also create micro containment zones when someone tests positive.
It was learnt that 27 lakh vaccine jabs were administered on day one of Tika Utsav till 8 p.m, while over nine crore were first doses. Consequently, India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination went beyond 10.4 crore doses.
As a result, the number of vaccine beneficiaries aged above 60 years got benefited. All those beneficiaries who received their first dose of vaccine, crossed the four crore-mark.
While on the flip side, India reported 1,52,879 fresh covid infections in the past 24 hours, setting yet another one-day record as the nation’s count crossed 1.33 crore cases.
