In a tragic incident, at least 26 people died after a major fire broke out in a building near Mundka metro station in west Delhi on Friday.
As per reports, the fire department officials got the information about the blaze at 4.40 pm. The fire broke out in a building near pillar number 544, Mundka metro station. Reports revealed that around 24 fire tenders were sent into service.
“Some people jumped off the building, they were shifted to the hospital,” Sunil Choudhary, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Delhi Fire Service said.
As per the preliminary investigation, the flames broke out in a three-storey commercial building that provides office space for companies; the police said.
Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind consoled the deaths in the fire in west Delhi and tweeted, “Distressed by the tragic fire accident at a building near Mundka Metro Station in Delhi. My condolences to the bereaved families. I wish for speedy recovery of the injured.”
