Exactly 2 years ago, Nara Lokesh started off what turned out to be the most significant political development in his career as he initiated the Yuva Galam Padayatra which would then go on to change virtually everything for him.
Prior to this yatra, Lokesh was seen as a soft educated lad who might be adjust to soft for hard-core politics against ruthless Jagan Mohan Reddy. As a result, even YSR Congress supporters and leaders largely underestimated Lokesh and the impact of Yuva Galam Padayatra.
However, once Lokesh started to get things moving and reach the masses through this Yatra, everything started to change. What started off at a humble capacity in Chittoor district would go on to gain momentum every single day and ended up being the game changer not just for Lokesh but also for TDP.
Lokesh was mostly carrying a clean and soft image prior to the Yatra. But once he got into the public and started to interact with the masses in the most effective way possible, it slowly moulded him into a mass leader. This was exactly when he transitioned from Harvard-backed politician to a hardcore Telugu politician.
He got to know about the hardships faced by the TDP cadres and got anguished with the same post which he announced the “Red Book” which caught on quite well. This assured the TDP cadres that their calls for help from the rampant YCP tenure were heard and Lokesh himself will stand by them.
Through a course of just under a year, Lokesh covered nearly 4000 kilometres through this historically significant Yatra. The ending for this Yatra was also an eventful one as Lokesh had to contend with the arrest of Chandrababu back in September 2023 where Jagan bamboozled the TDP ecosystem and left them crying for help.
But a brave Lokesh continued to grind his way through and capped off the Yatra in December. Through the course of this Yatra, the TDP scion went from being a “Varasudu” to a hardly fought and earned “warrior” image. This eventually set the stage for not just Lokesh’s win from Mangalagiri but also NDA’s win across the state.
