On Wednesday night, 150 academecians from various central universities across the country wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to conduct the JEE Main and NEET UG exams as scheduled, keeping in view the future of students despite the covid pandemic risk.
The letter comes subsequent to concerns raised by some students, leaders of various parties, opposition chief ministers and social activists across the country that the exams should be deferred.
“Millions of students who passed Class 12 are now eagerly awaiting the next step. Under no circumstances should students’ dreams be shattered. Some leaders are playing with the lives of students by opposing the government’s decision for their political mileage.
But we strongly believe that under your effective leadership the government will conduct the examinations as per the schedule with due care. We fully support the conduct of the JEE and NEET examinations”, the professors said in the letter.
Among the signatories were Nagamani and Siddhi Chaitanya of Hyderabad Central University, Delhi University, IGNOU, Lucknow university and Indian academicians from foreign universities.
Over 14 lakh admit cards for NEET and JEE were downloaded after National testing agency (NTA) released them on Wednesday.
