Earlier in February, a college principal and 12 assistant professors of the Rajendra College under JP university in Chhapra of Saran district in Bihar have been suspended for performing group dance on singer Sapna Choudhury’s item songs in a college function.
The order for their suspension was notified on February 13 [Saturday] for their gross misconduct that occured during a college function organised on account of Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s birth anniversary on December 3rd. Those sacked have been ordained by college head to reply within two weeks as to why departmental proceedings should not be initiated against them for their “gross misconduct”.
Days after the suspension order, college principal and 12 college teachers have sent their reply to the showcause notice issued along with suspension by the varsity and disagreed that they were involved in “gross misconduct and dereliction of duties”.
Earlier, an inquiry was ordered regarding the issue by Governor-cum-Chancellor of the University Phagu Chauhan after the dance video of college principal and others that had the song ‘Teri Aaakhiyon ka yo kajal’ (kohl in your eyes) leaked on social media.
One of the suspended teachers stated to the media that they they had danced with their children after the official function, and also later the national anthem was sung and hence backed himself and others that they did no wrong.
