The Rajya Sabha has suspended 12 Opposition MPs from the house for the rest of the Winter Session on account of unruly behaviour on the first day of its business for the Winter Session.
The official notice said, “This House takes cognisance and strongly condemns the utter disregard to the authority of the Chair, complete abuse of rules of the House persistently thereby wilfully obstructing the business of House through their unprecedented acts of misconduct, contemptuous, unruly and violent behaviour and intentional attacks on security personnel.”
The list of the suspended MPs includes Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena), Anil Desai (Shiv Sena), Elamaram Kareem (CPM), Phulo Devi Netam (INC), Chhaya Verma (INC), Ripun Bora (INC), Binoy Viswam (CPI), Rajamani Patel (INC), Dola Sen (TMC), Shanta Chhetri (TMC), Syed Nasir Hussain (INC), Akhilesh Prasad Singh (INC).
As per reports, the MPs climbed on the officials’ table, waved black cloth and threw files and even manhandled the security personnel. However, the Opposition denied them and said the security group mauled their MPs.
