After the two-day vaccine dry run held on December 28 and 29th, another major one would be conducted across all the States on Saturday.
Close to 96,000 vaccinators have been trained ahead of covid immunization drive as per the standard operating procedure.
The public authority intends to launch the vaccine in January once it gets endorsed.
State governments, local authorities and city magistrates have been approached to get ground staff, coordinations and IT frameworks set up to complete the drive that intends to cover 30 crore population by July.
In a high-profile meeting that has the ministers and VIPs from all states and UTs on Thursday, the centre ordained to have a precise and effective framework for the inoculation drive, which would be conducted on January 2nd.
The activity is scheduled to be conducted in all state capitals in three session sites. Some states will also include districts that are situated in difficult terrain or have poor logistical support.
The drug regulator’s subject expert panel on Covid vaccine is scheduled to meet on January 1 to review emergency use authorisation for Serum Institute of India’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.
Currently, Covaxin is seemingly ahead in the race to become the nation’s first Covid-19 vaccine.
